Following the unfortunate postponement of the Salomon Trail Marathon Wales event, part of the 2021 Golden Trail National Series for the UK, the series will now host three races across England and Scotland.
The Golden Trail National Series (a derivative of the Golden Trail World Series), aims to bring the strongest and most ambitious runners of off-road racing into a single national ‘super circuit’. Through its original formula, the Golden Trail National Series gives participants the opportunity to confront themselves at a ‘local’ level with many of the national and international athletes of trail running and skyrunnning, with the 10 strongest male and female runners to be offered a place at the GTNS UK National Final at the Ring of Steall race on 18 September 2021, for a chance to then be invited to participate in the GTNS Grand Finale at the Azores Trail Run on October 22-24, 2021.
The 3 races in the series of the Golden Trail National Series UK in 2021 consist of;
♣ The Serpent Trail – 4 July 2021 (50km, 700m +)
♣ Scafell Pike Marathon – 15 August 2021 (43km, 1800m +)
GTNS UK National Final
♣. The Ring of Steall – 18 September 2021 (29km, 2382m +)
Runners must participate in at least 1 out of 2 qualifying races and reach the top 5 in that race to be invited to the GTNS UK National final. The overall ranking will take into account each runner’s best result from the qualifying race and the result of the GTNS National Final at the Skyline Scotland Ring of Steall race.
The National final is mandatory to get a ranking and qualify for the GTNS Grand Finale in the Azores. The GTNS UK top 3 ranked men and women in the overall ranking after the UK National Final will receive tickets for the GTNS Grand Finale in the Azores.
