The Golden Trail Series combines these iconic races into a new and revolutionary concept. A clear and simple format where each runner’s best three results from the five races count. This will generate excitement for the public following the entire season and to ensure that elites meet each other a maximum of times during the year.
The top 10 men and women will be invited to the grand final in South Africa. Each and every one of the top ten receive €5000 prize money only if they run the final.
Trail-running is a unique sport, with strong human values, most of the community from beginners to experts, from short distance runners to ultra runners care about humans and environment and that's why we love our sport. The Golden Trail Series, aims to defend these values while growing the sport. For this reason, the final has a unique concept, a unique way to motivate the top elite to run for the podium. For this last race of the season, they won't run only for themselves, they won't run only to be crowned but also for a human or environmental cause. In fact they won't get prize money if they make podium. The prize money will go directly to the cause, NGO or association they decided to run for.
