The GTNS races for the UK/NL are: TBA, and the GTNS UK/NL National Final.
IT IS EACH INDIVIDUAL ATHLETE’S RESPONSIBILITY TO RESPECT THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF EACH RACE.
RANKING POINTS BREAKDOWN – 1st to 30th :
Runners must participate in at least 2 out of 5 qualifying races and reach the overall top 5 following the qualifying races to be invited to the GTNS UK/NL national final. The overall ranking will take into account each runner’s best result from two qualifying races and the result of the national final, Buttermere Skyline.
The National Final is mandatory to get a ranking and qualify for the GTNS Grand Final (Switzerland), and the national final’s points are double
The GTNS UK top 2 men and women in the overall ranking, along with the first place U23 male and female will receive tickets* for the GTNS Grand Final in Switzerland:
In the event of a tie:
1- The best place on one of the GTNS UK 2024 qualifying race
2- The second place on one of the GTNS UK 2024 qualifying race
3- The third place on one of the GTNS UK 2024 qualifying race
This Grand Final will gather all the different GTNS (GTNS FR-BEL / GTNS SP-POR/ GTNS IT / GTNS UK-NL / GTNS CZE-SK-POL/ GTNS GER-AUT-CH/ GTNS US-CAN/ GTNS MEXICO/ GTNS NORDICS).
If a runner didn’t reach the top 3 in the national final to receive an invitation to the GTNS Grand Final, he/she can still go at his/her own expense.
The top 3 men and women from this Grand Final will win a Golden Ticket to participate in the Golden Trail World Series 2025, under the condition that he/she has participated in one of the GTNS 2024.
In the event of race cancellations, the rules will apply as below:
– In the event some races are cancelled but there are still at least 3 races and the GTWS has switched to a GTC format the top 3 M& W of the GTNS UK/NL will win a Golden Ticket for the GTC 2024. The GTNS Grand Final is cancelled.
– In the event there are still at least 3 races active but there are less than 3 GTNS still active, the GTNS Grand Final is cancelled. The M&W winners of the GTNS UK/NL will receive a Golden Ticket for the GTWS 2025
– In the event there are less than 3 races but the GTWS and the other GTNS are still active, the GTNS UK is cancelled, then winners of the races that are not cancelled are invited to the GTNS Grand Final directly.
– In the event there are less than 3 races and the GTWS has already switched to the GTC format, the GTNS UK/NL switches to a GTC format. The winners of the races which have not been cancelled get a Golden Ticket for the GTWS 2025.
In the event of injury and the inability to compete before the competition, the runner who would have won a ticket for the GTNS Grand Final, or for the GTWS, will not receive any compensation and will lose his/her ticket and will not receive travel expenses.
There is only a single category for both Male and female
THE TOP 30:
After the 6 races, the Top 6 athletes who have participated in a minimum of 3 races will be supported* by the GTWS (travel, accommodation, food) to participate in the Grand Final. The Top 30 athletes who have not participated in a minimum of 3 races will have a free bib to participate in the Grand Final” but will not be supported financially.
*Travel expenses = in the maximum specified sum to the GTWS Final (Ascona - Locarno Golden Trail Finals by Scenic Trails): €600 and €1,500 for runners travelling from overseas. The journey includes accommodation, meals & transfers.
The GTNS Individual Ranking: Open Category
In 2024, the GTNS Grand Final will be the same race as the International Elite’s GTWS FINAL.
THE TOP 2 M&W & TOP 1 U23 M&W (or TOP 2 minimum) from EACH GTNS* will be fully** invited to GTWS FINAL in the “GTNS CATEGORY”.
This ranking will take into account only the athletes selected by the GTNS from all over the world.
2 different rankings: 1 for the World Elites, 1 for the National Elites (prize money for both categories).
* IF AN ATHLETE IS IN THE TOP 3 OF A GTNS, BUT ALSO IN THE TOP 30 OF THE GTWS AFTER 6 RACES, THE INVITATION WILL BE FOR THE ATHLETE COMPETEING IN THE GTNS.
** WITHIN THE SUBSIDIARIES BUDGET’S LIMIT SPECIFIED IN THE RULES (600€ TO TRAVEL TO THE SAME CONTINENT/1500€ TO TRAVEL TO ANOTHER CONTINENT).
GTNS Teams Category
The GTNS Teams will be represented by the Top 3 M&W (OR TOP2 MINIMUM) of each GTNS.
The GTNS Team ranking will be determined using the TIME from the 2 best men and women from each stage during the GTNS FINAL
The TOP 3 GTNS Team will get access to prize money.
The final race is open to all.
The first 3 men and women from the GTNS UK/NL overall ranking will receive their tickets* to participate in the GTNS Grand Final in Switzerland.
The Top 3 M&W from the OPEN CATEGORY from the GTNS GRAND FINAL will be invited by the GTS to take part in 3 GTWS 2025 races (Golden Ticket 2025).
The Top 3 M&W from the OPEN CATEGORY from the GTNS GRAND FINAL will be able to win prize money if they finish in the TOP 3 of the OPEN CATEGORY overall:
∙ 1st = €1,500 + Golden Ticket 2025
∙ 2nd = €1,250 + Golden Ticket 2025
∙ 3rd = €1,000 + Golden Ticket 2025
The Top 3 GTNS Team Ranking from the GTNS GRAND FINAL will have access to financial bonuses to be shared between team members:
∙ 1st TEAM = €3,000
∙ 2nd TEAM = €2,400
∙ 3rd TEAM = €1,800
*Ticket: [race bib]+ [accommodation & meals for 7 days]+ [transport in the maximum sum specified up to €600 from Europe]. Financial support will be provided to cover transport costs.
